I have had this idea on my head for while, and now when I saw little time ago that outstanding bloch mb.152 feature here, on Aeroscale, it made me want to ask for this campaign. Nowadays there is alot of nice models of various sizes of Dewoitines, Moranes, Blochs, Brequets and Potez' on markets, from manufacturers as Tamiya, Fonderie miniatures, Azur, Classic Airframes and Smer.

What you think?

Great idea. I would suggest that aircraft had to be flown by French forces in WWII - not only French manifactured aircraft. That would also make it possible to enter aircrafts from Free French forces.

I am in - as always

I also have that kit, Jesper. It is in the dark. Lurking, like a cobra, waiting for a chance to strike. I guess that would make me the third to commit.

I'd be in, especially if it is aircraft of all types in french markings - I want to do a P-40F in french north africa markings.

Or I suppose I could just do the MS 406 I have in the stash too...

I think it should be French aircraft only.. Otherwise there will just be more of the same Spitfires etc. As the proposer said there are many good WW2 French aircraft kits out there now. My opinion..

Sounds OK, but depends on when it starts and ends. I've got a patient on the table now. It might be a good time to get out the Liore et Olivier LeO 451 that's been lurking in my stash for a long time.

If it is going to be limited to "French Built Only", I would like to suggest opening it to any era. I have Some great WWI Frenchies, as well as a few Mirage. I don't have a single WWII French Aircraft. Make it a French Showcase.

My LHS doesn't have a single WWII French Fly-thingie.

Yes, only French build but from any era, sounds great. Anyone volunteer for taking lead of this campaign? I am extremely busy this whole school year.

French from all times sounds good to me. Then I can jump in with a Nieuport-Delage 29, if such a bird can be found in 1:48. Please say there is one!

I've got two speed models to do in the same period but...... a Dewoitine D520 or a nice Eduard SPAD or even the1/28 scale Revell SPAD, tempting. What about French exports? Israeli or South African Mirage, US SPADs etc.
Even better if I could find a Bleriot, Antoinette or Demoiselle I would definitly be up for this but WW2 is too limiting, it misses some of the finest parts of French Aviation History, sez he who already built a Nieuport this year

I'll take the lead on the campaign if no one else wants to and you (Toumas) really don't have the time.

So, we are deciding on French build/design from any era it seems.

what about markings then - would a South African Mirage F1CZ be allowed? or are we limiting ourselves to French markings?

I would personally vote to allow export markings.

anyone else have an opinion on that?

Hey - don't forget the older aircraft as well. SPAD and Nieuport kits are common and Eduard do a Hanriot. Omega Models do Caudrons and Farmans. French designed engines powered many aircrft on both sides during WW1, France was the leading nation in aircraft design until late in WW1.

Well, I figure I'll put in a campaign proposal later in the week, after things have quieted down from our little local election.

any other pre-orders/campaign supporters?

I suppose this campaign will actually encourage a fair number of WWI entries.

hmmm, there needs to be some sort of biplane emoticon...

I'd say WWI should certainly be included.

So what are we going to do about conglomerate designs like the SEPECAT Jaguar, the Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde, or Airbus airliners?

I'd vote to include consortiums like those in our build as it is usually best to be as inclusive as possible (while still maintaining the theme), but i can also see the point of limiting the builds to exclusively French designs.

anyone else have an opinion on that?

I would say that both WWI, lend-lease in French markings, and conglomerate designs should be included.
