Not from the Postman but from the vendors at the IPMS U.S.A. Nats
One more for the stash and some bits for the next projects-

And some reading/reference material-

Sharp eyes will note something trying to lure me away from aviation.
What is missing but needed is a volume on how to read Kanji !
Cheers ! Richard

Well, after last weeks haul, here is another one which I got today from MBK:

IMHO the 40+ Euro I paid is too much for such a kit. Not sure how the decals are (chinese decals vary much in quality and are nowhere near Cartograf), 6 Flying Tiger Options is definitely a plus. The Blood Chit is a nice touch but not enough to explain the price. AND I have to buy replacement canopy, cockpit and controlsurfaces (all on the way from Hannants plus onepiece exhausts and Loon Models set with open cowl flaps, wheels...) which is another 45GBP

BUT I wanted it for comparison with the new Airfix .. stupid isn't it.

all the best

Steffen,

you're not alone I'm afraid:-)
Also, since you've already done your homework, whose cockpit & canopy did you choose for the P-40?

Hello Harald,

Aires Cockpit (designed for Trumpeter)
Squadron Vac Canopy (not sure: generic or for Monogram)
AML Set with control surfaces (designed for Academy)

The latter can also be done with some sanding and filling and are not mandatory.

The exhausts are quite nice in the kit but I don't want to build the whole engine so I got myself the Quickboost set with single piece stacks.

all the best

Yes! Got the hose adapter in the mail today, now I can get my updated hose arrangement into action.
That'll be: compressor > hose > water trap > hose > quick disconnect > airbrush.

Oh yeah, no more water making past the compressor's water trap/pressure regulator. Thinking about it, I don't think I've ever seen a single drop of water in it, must have been the outgoing air being so warm it cools down sufficiently for the water to condense only once in the air hose. Also, I can't help but wonder how I just put up with the occasional water spattering for so long...

From the Postman - Two kits pre-ordered months ago fro HLJ and a book ordered two weeks ago. The kits came from halfway around the world and the book from a dealer 75 miles away and they arrived the same day - Karma ? Spooky !
Cheers- Richard

Hi there

After what must be the slowest delivery I can remember, my Airfix Defiant finally arrived at my LHS the other day.

I always try to support my LHS where I can, and it's not their fault that it's so late - they submitted my pre-order back in March. But, somehow, between Airfix and the distributors, it's taken 6 months to reach them! With high street shops already struggling to compete against on-line retailers, service like this from their suppliers certainly doesn't make life any easier for them...

All the best

Oh yes, Joel! I'm sooo happy I got this version finally and would love to build it next year to join my Kiwi-Ventura. Actually I won't use the kit decals because last year I've got a set Xtradecal (from Hannants)and they made lovely decals for a Mk II already on it while the kit was not even out on the market.

Nice hauls here!
Karl: Wow, didn't see this kit since the early 70's when I build it - had it for a long time until mother dropped it and the 5 (!) wings were unreparable...

My dealer sold me some new drugs yesterday ....

It's not that I have many, many 109 already, but I couldn't pass this with decals for the machine of Olt. Frank Liesendahl ....

Yes, Steffen, I always wanted to build the machine of the "ship sinker" but never found decals for it. Now he gets the deserved place in my collection.

Have 2 more "Friedrich 4" from ICM (Revell) which are reserved for Marseille and Barkhorn ....

Cheers Torsten,

I have one of the Revell kits too and this will be Marseille as I like teh decals in that kit (except of course it will get national insignia just for accuracy.

I have a different JG 27 ship in mind but I won't tell yet (it has also a very cool tally at the rudder).

Nice haul Tony!!

ahh you lucky ba### err, guy .. waiting impatiently for my preordered F-14A ....

Today I got some stuff from Hannants ... nothing spectacular, just some aftermarket sets and the new Pfalz D.IIIa booklet.

all the best

Very nice stuff and beautiful kits are showing up here

Decided to partially support our friends from "Great Brexit"
and bought me two colourful birds to break up the camouflaged ones. But for those I also give Flory's Wash a try and let him sent 4 different washes to my home.
Revell's weathering wasn't yet tried . And the model stand is from Trumpeter and a very nice and useful item.

Hi again,

no photo, but new in my stash is Revells Bronze Tiger, Stearman Kaydet and Tamiyas F-14A (all 48) .. expensive week but I am glad I got them.
BTW IMHO the the super fine panel lines on the Tomcat are a little too fine for my taste. I need to be very carful in the painting stage.

all the best

Hi Steffen

That sounds like a great haul! I certainly wouldn't complain if Tamiya's Tomcat landed in my lap(!), but realistically it's not a kit that I'll ever buy. However, I love Revell's little Stearman - it's definitely on my list to build (with Iliad Design's decals in my case) in the not to distant future.

My addition to the thread is much more modest, but it's a kit I know we've both been keen to see finally arrive after its delayed release:

I'll take some pics tomorrow. My first impressions from whenever I could sneak a look while minding my shop today were that Airfix have done a pretty good job. One thing I really like is that they've switched back to medium grey plastic. I find it easier to work with than their recent pale blue-grey styrene (I get the nod to their 1960s kits with the pale colour, but Airfix quickly developed beyond that back in the day, and somehow the mid-grey looks more classy too...). I hope this is the new norm for Airfix.

All the best

Not from the postie but my lhs were selling this cheap and I couldn't resist.

Still need to try a few painting techniques and a rig that I'm hesitant to attempt first on my WNW kits, so this is perfect for the job. I'm also toying with the idea of converting it to the TF.1 Trench fighter just to do something a bit different.
