The pre coloured PE self adhesive fret is placed onto a backing sheet to keep the adhesive safe. Eduard warn against taking the backing sheet away from the parts until you are ready to use them. It is advised to keep the backing sheet in place when cutting the parts from the fret. Eduard also warn against touching the area where the adhesive is applied with your fingers. So you have been warned.
This fret contains around 48 parts to be used in conjunction with the kit parts for the front and rear instrument panels. This indicates the sort of attention to detail that we have come to expect from Eduard. The quality of the print work is quite outstanding, with even the smallest switches represented. Eduards method of building up the instrument panel is an excellent attempt at producing a low relief surface rather than just a flat instrument panel. The trade off for this more realistic look is that there are 24 pieces to complete each panel. But I think Eduards approach is excellent and well worth the effort. The glass screens for the two head up displays are made up from the acetate sheet. The glass screens need cutting out, but Eduard thoughtfully have supplied three screens in case of any errors cutting. The area where to cut the screens are bounded by black lines for guidance. Also supplied on the pre coloured fret are the four side consoles, two for each cockpit and rear facing mirrors attached to the canopy.
None coloured PE fret contain the parts that will detail the rest of the cockpit and will require painting. Parts included are for the frame in the canopy between the two crew positions, canopy sills, cockpit sidewall detail, rear cockpit bulkhead and much, much more. The quality of the etched work is first rate with some exquisite detailing as you can see from the images to the right. Some bending and folding of the parts is required and of course with any PE release there are some very small parts to cut and apply. So cut carefully to avoid feeding the carpet.
Instructions are printed on both sides of a A4 sheet of paper. The black line drawings are very clear and unambiguous in their meaning. There are various symbols to indicate whether to bend parts, drill holes, remove bits. etc. All the parts are numbered on the frets which is an enormous help.

Conclusions.

This is an excellent release from Eduard and one that will significantly improve the look of the Revell 1/48 EF-2000 Typhoon cockpit. I am very impressed with the level of detail, whether printed or etched. Because of the parts count some patience will be required to build up the components. Nice one Eduard.
