A-7D Self Adhesive

Hobby Boss have released several variants of the A-7 Corsair II, and Eduard have followed with several update sets. This set is for the A-7D version, and has parts that enhance or replace details in the cockpit, ejection seat, undercarriage bays, exhaust, canopy and fuel tanks.
Packed in the now standard plastic envelope type bag the two sheets of steel, and the set of instructions are separated by a cardboard insert to give it some strength. This set is part coloured and part self adhesive.
The P.E for the cockpit comprises of the main instrument panel, which is two piece affair, with the dials on one part and the facing on the second, and does look pretty good. Side console panels, rudder pedals, along with part of the floor, a new HUD, make up the rest of the pit. The ejection seat has a nice set of colour harness's, some new side panels, ejection pull handle and other small parts, which will really busy the bang seat up. The canopy also has some internal framework to attach, which has rear view mirrors. Most of these parts are pre-coloured and self adhesive. Some of these parts are very small, so extra care will be needed when handling them.
The rest of the P.E covers the exhaust, internal detail for the wheel wells and doors, and new refuelling covers for the two fuel tanks.
The P.E compared to the standard parts are extremely different with the level of detail taken to the next level.
The instructions are simple and straightforward to follow, giving the kit parts to be replaced or used for the P.E. Shaded areas on the instructions are for details that will need to be sanded off or removed from the plastic parts.
SUMMARY
Highs: A nice set which will detail the HB Corsair very well.
Lows: P.E set costs more then the kit.
Verdict: This is a very nice and thought out set. The enhancements for the cockpit alone are worth the extra work needed to install this set.

I started modelling in the 70's with my Dad building Airfix aircraft kits. The memory of my Dad and I building and painting a Avro Lancaster on the kitchen table will always be with me. I then found a friend who enjoyed building models, and between us I think we built the entire range of 1/72 Airfi...
