German Tank Crew - Winter Gear

by: Rowan Baylis [ MERLIN ]

The new German Tank Crew in Winter Gear from Carter & Crowley Ltd. is comprised of three resin 1/2 figures. The driver and gunner are single-piece castings and are head and shoulders only. The commander features a full torso to the top of the legs, with separate arms and head.

The sculpting and casting on each figure is excellent and details on the uniforms are crisply depicted. The commander and one of the crew are wearing reversible parkers, while the third figure has what appears to be a fur-lined waist-coat and scarf.

Very little clean-up is necessary on the single-piece figures, but moulding blocks must be removed from the commander's arms and head. The arms fit pretty well; a touch of filler is all that's needed to blend everything in. Each figure has a fine degree of individuality, with really good facial expressions.

No painting instructions are included, just the colour pics on the box but, nevertheless, these figures will make an excellent addition to any late-WW2 German tank.

Thank you to MMD-Squadron for kindly supplying the review sample.

I mostly concentrate on WW2 subjects, although I'm also interested in WW1, Golden Age aviation and the early Jet Age - and have even been known to build the occas...
