Introduction

PlusModel has released a 1/48th scale ladder for an F-15 fighter. I know this will not be to everyone’s taste, but I like to add simple items that give a sense of scale to a subject.

Contents

The product is supplied in a simple card end opening carton. In side of this is a single plastic sprue that contains all of the needed parts for the ladder, this is packed inside a plastic bag.

Review

This is a very basic model product as can be seen from the sprue shots and subsequent build pictures. The parts are well moulded with no obvious faults observed. Detail is minimal with it being made of metal poles and slats, but PlusModel does appear to have given this some consideration as to the approach.

When moving onto the build you quickly realise the weaknesses in the product. Removal of the parts is made difficult due to the point where the part finishes and the sprue starts being almost impossible to see, I had to use a scalpel and magnification to even get close to the point where one stops and the other begins.

Once the parts are free of the sprue and cleaned up, we have the task of putting them together. That task is a pain as there are no real connection points for any of the parts, other that is than the plate that sits against the fuselage of the model and the plate at the top of the ladder. With all that said and a little touch here and there it will come together and result in a good look.

Conclusion

This could have been made easier to construct, but that ease may impact on the accuracy of the ladder. Removal of parts also requires a steady hand and magnification in my case to see exactly where to make the cuts. With all of that said I do like the look of the finished part.
SUMMARY
Highs: It will add a nice scale object to a model.
Lows: The difficulty of removing parts and no positive connections is a pain.
Verdict: I still like the product despite the issues it presents.

Very nice! Always can use a boarding ladder. Last time I think I've seen a F-15 ladder was the old Monogram F-15. Hope they do some more ladders for various aircraft. (MiG-31) Hint hint.
