Darkstar Miniatures have introduced an extensive range of pigment powders in very useful "earth and rust" colours. Each colour comes in a clear plastic 15ml jar with a flip-top lid that is sealed for safety until you open it the first time. The colour available at present are:

Dark Earth
Baked Earth
Light Rust
Earth
Light Earth
Sand
Mud
New Rust
Orange Sand
Red Earth
Rust
Light Sand

The pots can be purchased individually, or in the following 3-colour sets:

Earth Set I - Dark Earth/Earth/Mud
Earth Set II - Red Earth/Baked Earth/Light Earth
Rust Set - New Rust/Rust/Light Rust
Sand Set - Sand/Orange Sand/Light Sand
Each multi-pack costs £6.50.

The Airbrush Company kindly sent a pot each of New Rust and Sand to try out. I found them excellent, with extremely fine pigments that adhere well to a primed surface. They should also work very well mixed with varnish or decal solution to create a variety of weathering effects.

Conclusion
These are very good pigment powders that will be instantly useful. Even with the wide range of colours already available, I hope Darkstar will go still further and add some white, greys, dark browns and "dirty blacks", because they would be ideal for exhaust stains, general shading and aging.

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.
