Alley Cat have released news of two sets to convert the Airfix 1/48 Sea Vixen FAW 2 into a FAW 1 that will be released in the near future. The separate conversions, one for six line aircraft of the fleet and the other features test aircraft with some rather tasty paint schemes will include decals and Alley Cat promises a very easy conversion. Here's the announcement from Alley Cat :

"I then thought how nice some early FAW.1's would be so I started with the master patterns for the conversion, these are now well advanced and will offer a very comprehensive conversion for the model, and I have been designing all the parts that there will once again be basically NO CUTTING required, well only a very little nip in two places all being well. The parts are not available for viewing just at the moment but as soon as I have these ready for display I will make the images known to all. What I can show is the box art and the colour schemes that will be covered, once again a decision has been made to make two options available to cover all possible interests. The one set will cover three experimental aircraft the other will cover six squadron based aircraft, close observers will note that there are two from Yeovilton, and then one each from the carriers Ark Royal, Centaur, Hermes and Victorious, so that should please all the various squadrons, bases and carrier men.
We hope to have these sets ready for the end of February.
As with so many of our products everything will be in one box, the conversion, detail parts and the decals". [sic]
