The guys and gals at Dragon have been busy behind the scenes adding new features to their upcoming quarterscale Bf 110D, as can be seen in the latest pictures released today.
For the first production run in the USA and Japan there will be a pair of beautifully detailed DB 601s scaled down from the 1:32 version, but the really exciting news for many modellers will be the inclusion of separate leading edge slats - a first in quarterscale Bf 110 kits.

There are more additions still under discussion, but as they're not in Dragon's official update, they'll have to stay under wraps for now...

Hi Rowan that is indeed good news and I might actually buy one of these kits (I already had decided not to buy one as it had no advantage over the Eduard) all the best Steffen

Engine is exclusive for Japan and USA first editions!! Does that mean if we want the engine we should get it from HLJ? Howard

Hi Howard I'll try to find out more details from our contacts at Dragon on that score - I'd like to hope the special edition will be available in Europe too... All the best Rowan

Hi all, Never say never again... I propose that we name the Bf110 wing leading edges slats the "Steffen slats" since apparently his moaning reached the guys at Dragon. Jean-Luc

Hi there I actually got a (rather overdue, thanks to the weather!) test-shot of the kit today - and there's a lot in it that looks very tasty indeed! As ever, there are a few points to work on, but it's shaping up very nicely. The "Steffen slats" are indeed there! Due to their being late additions, they are done as optional extras - i.e. the wing is moulded with the slats closed, but guides are marked on the inside to cut them away and fit inserts and movable slats. All the best Rowan
