AIMs is in the process of producing a more accurate and detailed cockpit interior for ICM’s 1/48 scale Ju 88 C-6
”Hi everyone work on this set going well. Basically need to confirm what to do about the clear parts needed and once I have stock of the Photo -etch and the clear parts the set will be ready. The first set will be for the twin C Stand set up only, the second set will be for the single C Stand with its different radio rack set up, different single ammo bin and MG 131 instead of the kits MG 81s. Obviously apart from all the usual faults with the ICM Ju 88s with this Day Fighter kit they have done nothing other than provide a fighter nose and an MF FF and undersized single ammo drum! In fact so much is missing on top of the normal updates needed that together with sorting out the clear parts this will be an expensive additional purchase just to make a nice correct C-6. Obviously you can chose a decal option that has an early C-6 without the armoured windshield and wait till they release the Night Fighter boxing to have an armoured windshield but apart from some of the decal options in this current boxing needing the armoured type - I do not have any hope that ICM will include a good armoured windshield in the Night Fighter boxing. I say that because it would seem they have already designed the part and it was included in the Special Hobby C-4 boxing of the ICM kit and you can see in the photo of this kit part next to the far superior Dragon part that ICM have designed a front windscreen that is 2mm too low at the centre so that above it is rounded as on the bomber rather that flat. The other clear part issue is the FuBi rack which ICM have provided as solid plastic (Dragon did the same) - this needs also to be in clear resin or clear vacform - we shall see. Looking forward the Day Fighter kit includes the FuG 220 with its early triangular mounts but like with their aileron actuators in the kits the size of these triangles is 1/72 not 1/48! New parts will be included in the next update set and the new actuators are already on the PE set. As well as the larger PE frame than was needed for the A-5 update set, a instrument transparency is provided as well as 6x faces for the MG FF ammo drums and these faces also include the top handle for the drum. One final resin part that I am considering doing is a replacement pilot's seat as this kit just comes with the armoured type with MG 15 ammo drum holder moulded onto it.”
