Live-Resin brings us a great new set to update the Academy 1/35 MH-60G to one of the latest versions with external gun mounts.
The Sikorsky MH/HH-60G Pave Hawk has been the primary CSAR (Combat Search And Rescue) platform for the USAF since the late 1980s. It has been a very capable and successful aircraft and has proven itself in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan many times over. One of the biggest complaints for the Pave Hawk by its crews has been lack of internal space due to a large, centrally-mounted ammo can and associated gear for the internally-mounted guns. In recent years, an external gun mount system was developed for the HH-60G that moves the guns and ammo boxes outside of the fuselage. This removed the internal ammo box which freed up space for the crew and their gear.

Live-Resin has announced they will soon offer a set of the HH-60G External Gunmount and weapons. It should be very nice and highly detail, as all Live-Resin pieces are.

Another note, even though the GAU-18 .50 cal is shown above... The GAU-2 (M134) 7.62mm minigun can also be used on the same mount. Additionally, it is not unheard of (not common either) for an HH-60G to have a GAU-18 on one side and a GUA-2 on the other to give the crew more flexibility. Also, they usually travel in a 2 ship flight. One aircraft can be armed w/GAU-2s and the other armed with GAU-18s. M240D 7.62mm MGs can also be mounted, but this is not very common.

Gino, in the first photo, the minigun has a box at the bottom, do you know what is it?

That is a chaff/flare launcher as part of the countermeasure dispensing system. There are usually a couple on each side of the tailboom and two forward on the step sponsons.

I was sent a clarification from Live-Resin: "In each one set - two mounts and two guns and two chutes for right and left side - complete to one helicopter. Not need two sets, one - is enough." So each set has two complete mounts w/guns.

Good, because it was a little bit confusing.

I received my set in the mail a couple days ago. They look great. Very finely cast with no flash. The detail is amazing. They should look awesome once complete.
