Airfix has announced details of the marking options for the forthcoming re-release of the Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I in 1/48 scale.
This time Airfix has chosen two night fighter schemes, the role the Defiant was most famous and most successful:

N3328/DZ-Z, RAF No.151 Squadron, Royal Air Force Wittering, Cambridgeshire, England, February 1941.
N3313/PS-P, Aircraft flown by Squadron Leader Philip James Saunders, RAF No.264 Squadron, Royal Air Force Debden and Biggin Hill, England, December 1940/February 1941.

Airfix is a little vague with the release date; it will be around the end of the flying display season 2017. The fine looking build is by Martin Wainwright.

This has already been released BoB markings and it is a wonderful kit, I built the 1/72 scale version and I am at the painting stage on the 1/48 version and I will be building this, the night fighter 1/72 scale after the markings have been painted. 1/48 ongoing.

I'll get one when it's out. Should look nice beside my other "Black Beauties" P-61 and Do 215 nightfighters ....

The artwork is a little odd due to the rear aerial mount, me thinks that would hit the ground before the wheel.

Darren when the undercarriage extended the rear aerial mount retracted.

Thank you for the info as I never knew that.

The kit gives you both options, extended or retracted aerial, although it asks you to simply cut down the extended version, which is the obvious thing for the manufacturers to do. I'll see if I can find a photo of my completed 1/72 scale kit.

A photo of my completed Airfix 1/72 scale BP Defiant, just showing the aerials and antenna wire.
