Xtradecal has re-released their 1/48 decal sheet titled “They Also Serve”. It covers a number of P-47D’s that operated with the 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron
Xtradecal provides marking for two P-47’s and three markings options for a single aircraft. So there are five marking options altogether and they include:
-42-27922 5F-Z, 1945;
-42-8496 5F-X 'Galloping Catastrophe';
-42-75855 'Tony' 3 versions, early, June or late 1944
Aircraft were based at RAF Boxted and RAF Halesworth

The 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron were known as the "Shepherd of the Seas" and were credited with rescuing 938 men.
