Avalible from Italeri this April is a F7F-3 Tigercat in 1/48 scale.
Decals for 6 versions.
The F7F Tigercat is a heavy fighter developed by Grumman at the End of the Second World War but it was delivered too late to participate to the fighting.
The F7F participated, in an active way, to the first stages of Korean War and it served with the United States Navy and with the Unites States Marine Corps.
Designed for service on aircraft carriers it has been mainly used as land-based airplane.
During the Korean War it had performed night fighter, attack, close support and photo-reconnaissance duties.
Characterized by the adoption of two powerful radial Pratt & Whitney engines, the Tigercat was able to reach the speed of 740 Km/h. Furthermore it has been equipped with APS-6 radar system to optimize the effectiveness in night operations.

Just the old AMT/ERTL kit, with the same screwed up props. The decal choice is better tho.

It's still a pretty good kit, and with a trifle of aftermarket accessories available you can turn it into a prize winning model.

It is a nicely detailed kit, I have the -3 (AMT) and -3N (Italeri) in the stash. Italeri did fix the original destructive rubber tires with injected molded replacements, but yes the props are still backwards. You can fix them with some careful razor saw surgery if resin replacements are too pricey an option. It is nice to see it again, no one else is likely to commit to tooling a new kit.

Neat looking markings, but I don't know if I'd want to build that old kit at new kit prices.

The color schemes look to me to be the same as the AMT issues. I do remember that big green stripe.

In 2013 I have built an earlier release of that kit and I found in spite of its age it was still fine to build. At least I was satisfied with my result. It was a quick build and without any major problems. Okay, the cockpit is rudimentary but the overall view is fine. It's still the only quarterscale kit of this plane and it's a rare sight on expos. Too often I notice that model builders all around the world tear a kit apart without ever have build it. For me that is not okay. Build the kit (show it) and then argue .... Happy modelling! Torsten
