Hataka have sent us details of the first set in a multi-part series of aviation acrylic paints devoted to the Falklands Conflict. Volume 1 covers the Argentinian Air Force.
HTK-AS27 “Falklands Conflict paint set vol. 1”

For many modelers who begun their adventure with military aviation in scale in 1980s, the Falklands (Malvinas) conflict of 1982 was one of those extraordinary topics – a real conflict in cold war world. Although it was soon superseded by pictures and stories from Operation Desert Storm and the next conflicts in the Persian Gulf area, it is still well remembered and often becomes a topic of brilliant airplane models. For those, who would like to try their skills modeling Argentinean or British planes of that time, Hataka Hobby prepared a series of original paint sets. The first of them is dedicated to colours used by Fuerza Aérea Argentina, which took active part in Falklands (Malvinas) conflict using majority of then possessed types of planes. Part of its aircraft (incl. Mirage IIIEAs and IAIDaggers) wore standard camouflage colours (similar to US SEA scheme). At the same time pre-war colours of intensively used IA-58A Pucara ground attack planes of overall semi-matt aluminium were quickly regarded as inappropriate, which led to camouflaging the deployed aircraft in field condition with locally available paints (hence wide variety of schemes and colour tones used).

HTK-AS27 contains a careful selection of colours required for modeling of Fuerza Aérea Argentina planes of 1982. The set contains:

• HTK-A012 - Dark Tan - FS30219, used for upper surfaces of FAA's Mirage IIIEAs, IAI Daggers, C-130s / KC-130s and CH-47C Chinooks
• HTK-A016 - Dark Green - FS34079, used for upper surfaces of FAA's Mirage IIIEAs, IAI Daggers, C-130s / KC-130s and CH-47C Chinooks
• HTK-A021 - Medium Green - FS34102, used for upper surfaces of FAA's Mirage IIIEA and IAIDagger multi-role fighters and C-130s / KC-130s
• HTK-A039 – Camouflage Grey - FS36622, used for lower surfaces of Mirage IIIEAs, IAI Daggers, C/K-130 Herculeses and A-4C Skyhawks ("Andean" camo)
• HTK-A136 - Pucara Pale Green - Used for upper surfaces in field-applied camo of IA-58A Pucaras(incl. A-512, A-515, A-522, A-528, A-533 and A-549)
