Kitty Hawk should blow a few minds with the latest project announced by Glen Coleman - a 1:32 XF5U-1 "Flying Flapjack". If ever there was a dream come true for fans of "weird and wonderful" aircraft, this has got to come high on the list! It's certainly a subject I never expected to see as a mainstream kit in this scale.
Glen has sent us the initial CAD images but, as exciting as they are, he's appealing for even more detailed information beyond, for instance, what is available in Ginter Books #21. If you can help, please contact Glen at:

Was rather upset to see the bronco in 1/32 and now this as well!

Same here: Would definitely buy it in 1:48. In 1:32 most likely not.

Ditto 1:48.

Hi again Glen Coleman has sent us photos of the first test-shot build: Judging by Kitty Hawk's usual way of doing things, the finished kit shouldn't be too long in appearing. All the best Rowan

The more I think about it, the more this kit makes no sense. The powers to be canceled the F-11F because of what they thought would be a lack of interest, but they'll do a "Flapjack" that will turn a lot of heads. I'm betting that the majority of 1/32 scale modelers won't buy one, especially with all the great new 1/32 offerings. Joel

I'm not too sure of that. The Planet Models resin kit is pretty popular over on a certain Large Scale Planes forum elsewhere on the internet. I think it's the weird factor in play. Just imagine a face-off between this one and the ZM Ho IX or Shinden, for example.
