Freshly back from Telford, Roy Sutherland has sent us the first instalment on his latest releases:
"Barracuda Studios is proud to announce 11 new resin sets in all three scales... something for just about everybody.

This is the first of two announcements. Part 2 will follow in the next day or so.

These 7 new sets have a decidedly British theme, as they were debuted at the IPMS/UK National convention earlier this month. That, and I really love British aircraft!

First up is a suite of new products for the beautiful 1:48th scale Spitfire PR XIX kit from Airfix. The kit prop is accurate, but was not fitted to most production Mk XIXs. The vacform canopy fixes the flow lines problem in the kit canopy. The hollowed out exhausts speak for themselves, and the new wheels are just much more detailed and cool looking. A fast and easy upgrade for a very nice kit of a gorgeous Spitfire variant.

BR48092 1:48 Scale Spitfire Mk. XIX Tubular Exhausts
This set contains a pair of super detailed, accurate hollowed out exhaust stacks as fitted to most Mk. XIXs, XVIIIs, and late XIVs. Designed for the Airfix Spit XIX.

BR48093 1:48 Scale Spitfire Mk XIX 5 Blade Prop - Tapered
This set contains parts to make a super detailed 10’4” diameter prop w tapered blades, as fitted to many Spitfire Mk. XIXs, XIVs and XVIIIs. There were 2 styles of blades, a wide blade and a later tapered blade seen on most Spit XIXs in service. Designed for the gorgeous Airfix Spitfire XIX, but can be adapted to other kits.

BR48096 1:48 Scale Spitfire Mk. XIX vacform Canopy
This set contains one sparkling, crystal clear, vacformed pressurized canopy with separate hood and frameless PR type windscreen. Designed for the beautiful Airfix Spit XIX.

BR48097 1:48 Scale Spitfire 3 Slot Wheels - Circumferential Tread
This set contains a pair of super detailed resin 3 slot wheels with ribbed tyres as fitted to many postwar variants, including the Spitfire XIV, XVI, XVIII,XIX, 22/24, as well as some Seafire 45 and 46 and Spiteful/Seafangs. These wheels are fitted to many postwar foreign Spits as well as many warbirds of all marks. Made from careful measurements and photos taken of full size wheels. Can be fitted to most Spitfire kits.

Next in the lineup are 3 wheel sets for British aircraft. The aforementioned 3 slot Spitfire wheels get the super detailed treatment for 72nd and 32nd Spitfire kits. The 72nd wheels are a perfect upgrade for the new Airfix Spitfire 22 in 72nd scale. This is a very nice kit, but the wheels are considerably overscale and a bit plain. The 32nd scale wheels are perfect for postwar builds of the Tamiya Spit XVI, a huge upgrade for the Matchbox Spit 22, as well as postwar and export versions of the Spit XIV from PCM.

BR72107 1:72 scale Spitfire 3 Slot Wheels -Circumferential Tread
This set contains a pair of super detailed resin 3 slot wheels with ribbed tyres as fitted to many postwar variants, including the Spitfire XIV, XVI, XVIII,XIX, 22/24, as well as some Seafire 45 and 46 and Spiteful/Seafangs. These wheels are fitted to many postwar foreign Spits as well as many warbirds of all marks. Made from careful measurements and photos taken of full size wheels. Can be fitted to many Spitfire kits.

BR32104 1:32 Scale Spitfire 3 Slot Wheels - Circumferential Tread
This set contains a pair of super detailed resin 3 slot wheels with ribbed tyres as fitted to many postwar variants, including the Spitfire XIV, XVI, XVIII,XIX, 22/24, as well as some Seafire 45 and 46 and Spiteful/Seafangs. These wheels are fitted to many postwar foreign Spits as well as many warbirds of all marks. Made from careful measurements and photos taken of full size wheels. Can be fitted to many Spitfire kits.

BR48147 1:48 Scale Westland Whirlwind Mainwheels
This set contains a pair of super detailed, accurately sized and proportioned resin 4-slot wheels with logos, tire data and beading. Both the Cooper Details and Classic Airframes wheels are inaccurate. I should know. I mastered them back in the late 1980s! Technology and better access to research has finally allowed me to correct this problem and recreate them accurately.

These new sets are now in stock and ready to order on the Barracuda Studios website.
