Tamiya has revealed first CAD drawings of their forthcoming 1:32 scale figther.
Vought F4U-1 Corsair ‘Birdcage’ canopy
Scale: 1/32
Item: #60324

According to Tamiya Model Magazine:
Tamiya has announced the subject of the next 1:32 fighter aircraft kit will be the F4U-1 Corsair ‘Birdcage’ version. It’s a fabulous subject with masses of modelling potential and we will, of course, be giving it heaps of page-space in TMMI! Shown here are some CAD images of key areas of the model, but please note, the details are subject to change.

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.

I will definitely be getting one of these, well I will when they produce the bubble top version 1/32 scale kits are the perfect canvas for using paint mask for the markings............just saying What we do need is a 1/32 scale De Havilland Mosquito

Hm, don't be fast in judgment... let's wait and see what Gaston holds up the sleeve! It may be a high-dollar kit, but why worry if it is fatally flawed? All the best, Entoni

I won't care what Gaston thinks, I will form my own opinion. In fact I already have, knowing the standard that they achieve with these kits I will be getting one because I want a 1/32 Corsair in my collection and this will be the best that you will get for decades; regardless of any of Gastons red lines!

Looks very nice indeed. Lucky it's not something german;-) These kits are so much fun to build I'm afraid this one will follow the Spitfire and the Mustang (zero is still wip). The other thing going for these is that allthough I could probably get three other kits for the same price, I simply have no room to put those somewhere. So I better spend time on something like this, right?

As far as pricing this beast goes, I would expect it to be between the Tamiya P-51D and the P-51K. As far as markings go...need some Hampton Grey markings!

Personally, I'm curious to see how they handle the folding wings, and what sort of detail they include of the hinge area. I'm not a big Corsair fan, (insert gasp of disbelief here), but may get one just to build a wings folded carrier deck diorama.

While the Corsairs not high on my "must have" list, I reckon that now Tamiya have tooled a P+W 2800 in 1:32 I'd better start saving for their P47 release

You need Miracle Paint Masks

Who the **** is Gaston and why should I care what he thinks? Seriously, this kit was measured from several surviving examples, and looks to be a huge hit (not quite the Mustang, but a winner nonetheless). And a Corsair makes perfect sense as Tamiya looks to offer planes that fit well with its single-engine series. It was also a major nemesis of the Zero, whereas the Mosquito will have very little resonance in Japan where Tamiya focuses its marketing efforts. And imagine what a two-engine kit would cost you, chaps.
