Artist/Modelmaker Douglas Craner has hand carved propellers for his models for many years and is now forming his own company, The Propeller Shop, to make these available to modellers.
Each 1:32 prop is carved from 6-8 laminations of scale Ash/Mahogany, with a tight-grain, and takes around three hours to produce, from laminated block to shellac-stained finish. Douglas strives for exceptional accuracy, studying contemporary photos and existing examples for colour details etc.

The propellers will be supplied fully finished and ready for use - but note: the hubs, manufacturers' logos and spinners visible here in some of the accompanying photos are not provided and are shown for display purposes only.

So far Douglas has concentrated on German fighter types eg. Heine, Axial , Propulsar, Astra and BuR, but he will accept commissions, such as the "KF" with it's multipule "Bird-Feather" laminations, and sky blue rear surface. He also has plans to expand his range into Allied WW1/Inter-War years, but needs to judge the response to the initial releases first.

The price for each hand-made propeller will be £15 plus P&P. Full details of how to order will follow soon.

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.
