Airfix has released a special 1/72 RAF Tucano in the display scheme celebrating the Queens Diamond Jubilee. This is a limited edition kit, Airfix say only 1000 kits will be released worldwide.

The Tucano Display Team, based at 1 FTS RAF Linton on Ouse in Yorkshire, decided to paint its Short Tucano T1 display aircraft in commemoration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee held during 2012. Using the colours of the Union Jack, the scheme was designed to be eye catching against all backgrounds and typically patriotic. Created by designer, Jo Gough, with the help from the 2012 Display Pilot, Flt Lt Jon Bond and the 2012 Display Manager, Flt Lt Rich Keeling the paint scheme uses elements of the Union Jack to create striking 'racing line' stripes along the sides of the aircraft whilst the shape of the RAF Roundel is created on the top surface of the wings. The centrepiece of the scheme, however, focuses on the 'E II R' that is emblazoned in white on the underside of the aircraft against a bold and striking red background coupled with traditional crown. The aircraft, ZF269, was painted at RAF Linton on Ouse between February and March 2012 and will be paraded throughout the country during the 2012 Air Display Season.
