US NAVY Seabees NL Pontoon Barge
Item no. 72004
In 1941 the U.S. Navy established the engineering battalions, later called the Seabees. To fill Seabees needs a pontoon system also known as “magic box” was designed by Bureau of Yards and Docks. System of modular pontoons allowed the assembly of many of the necessary floating constructions, both for the landing operations, as well as transportation and engineering. Model barge is just an example of such use of pontoons.

Visit the product page for more details and original photographs of the barge.
