MISSION: Space-O-Rama

  MISSION:Space-O-Rama
  CAMPAIGN LEADER:GeneralFailure
  START DATE:January 10th, 2003
  ENDS:February 28th, 2003

Operational Overview
After Jim's suggestion to find a compromise to this discussion, I did some thinking that tries to include all suggestions (Except Envar's, since the Balloowa-Nimir planetary religion does not allow them to be depicted in dioramas, and I would not like them to declare war on our solar system).

The Rules and Regs
-- The Campaign starts on Friday 10 January 2003
-- The Campaign ends on Friday night, 28 February 2003
-- This Campaign will be a Campaign. It is not a contest. There will be no prize.
-- All who send in a project, get a campaign ribbon. See details on how to send in below.
-- Pictures posted on this forum or questions or remarks about your projects, both finished and under construction, can be discussed by all. This allows you to improve the project while it is under construction, and may give you extra input and fresh ideas.
-- A jury will select 1 or several light projects, 1 or several best standard projects and 1 or several best expert projects. These will each get a special medal. The jury will explain why they selected these projects.
The number of "best" projects per category will be one third of the total number of entries in that category, but there can be more, depending on the quality of entries.
There will be no discussion on the jury verdict.

-- All final projects are published in a separate chapter of the Gallery, and comments can be added there. These pictures become immortal, and can be seen by all species, regardless of their position in the universe. (Be warned : this may include the species you depict in your dio !)
-- The jury holds 4 members : Envar, Gunnie, Yodaman and myself. Jury members can compete and have a ribbon, but can't win the medals (unless theirs would be the only entries).

Project Content : LIGHT campaign

This campaing form is strictly reserved to junior modelers : anyone who has little experience in this, but still wants to try his hand at this campaign.

-- there is a free choice of scale between 1/10.000 and 1/35
-- no size limits
-- this project must include one spacecraft
-- this can be a diorama or a spacecraft floating in the Deep Void
-- this craft is a derelict spacecraft, either manmade or alien, or a detail part of such craft. It has to show traces of wear and tear, accident or battle.
-- this spacecraft can be meant for transport in space (=FLY), on planet ground (= scooter, car, tank, Gundam... ) or in/on liquids (=ship or sumarine).
-- the content of this project has to include an "easter egg" : some form of reference to the Armoramasite (e.g. Armorama name, logo, avatar or other content element)
-- the dio must NOT depict any giant ninja turtles, since even beginners must show at least a minimum of good taste.

Project Content : STANDARD campaign

This campaign cathegory is open to all (even experts or beginners if they wish so).

-- this spacecraft can be meant for transport in space (=FLY), on planet ground (=DRIVE) or in/on liquids (=FLOAT or SWIM).
-- this spacecraft is a derelict : it has to show traces of wear and tear, accident or battle.
-- the content of this project has to include an "easter egg" : some form of reference to the Armoramasite (e.g. Armorama name, logo, avatar or other content element)
-- those who wish to do so, may include one or several alien lifeforms in this project .
-- LAST BUT NOT LEAST - the project must depict a scene from any of the following movie series : Alien, Star Trek or Star Wars.

This means your entry must be based on an existing kit from any of those movies, or a scratchbuilt version of such craft of a detail thereof.

-- the dio must NOT depict any giant ninja turtles, since I think this contest must show at least a minimum of good taste.

Project Content : EXPERT campaign

Strictly reserved for those who wish to get their hands really dirty, and want to abide with the strict rules of this cathegory. Make no mistake : this will make you suffer !

-- the scale is either 1/72, 1/35 or 120 mm series
-- no size limits
-- this must be a diorama, situated on alien soil (not on planet Earth).
-- the dio contains one spacecraft, of a detail part of such craft.
-- this craft is a derelict spacecraft, either manmade or alien, it has to show traces of wear and tear, accident or battle
-- this spacecraft can be meant for transport in space (=FLY), on planet ground (=scooter, car, tank, ...) or in/on liquids (=FLOAT or SWIM).
-- the content of this project has to include an "easter egg" : some form of reference to the Armoramasite (e.g. Armorama name, logo, avatar or other content element)
-- there MUST be one or several alien lifeforms in this project .
-- the project must depict a scene from a not yet existing sequel in the series of Alien, Star Trek or Star Wars. This means you have to scratchbuild an existing or invented craft that could well fit into the movie you select.
-- (special warning to Envar) : the project must NOT depict any Balloowa-Nimir, for reason specified above
-- Any sign of giant ninja turtles in your dio disqualifies you instantly. (bonus reward for best projects : we are still negociating this, but on top of a special Armorama medal next to your name, we'll try to organize the abduction of a work colleague of the winner's choice or his/her mother-in-law by aliens).

Entry of Pictures and Mission Report (for all three cathegories)
-- For official entry, up to 5 different pictures can be e-mailed to one of the Jury members or entered directly into the Gallery.
-- Clearly mention if you submit your entry to the light, standard of expert category.
-- Together with this final entry, a Mission Report must be posted.
This Mission Report will include the following elements :
- Project Name
- Description of the action that is portrayed (one line to full story)
- Explain about your Armorama Easter Egg element
- Scale
- Describe selected kit or used material
- Describe building experience : what lessons can other builders learn from your entry

-- Those who would have language- or other problems with the Mission Report, can contact GeneralFailure for help.

-- Don't hesitate to post pictures of your project on this forum for discussion by others. We'll be glad to help, and it allows you to check on the "competition" too

-- On behalf of the jury, I wish you good luck and lots of fun !
