I was looking on Tamiya's website today, and noticed this: 1/48 P-47D
Is this a new kit? It looks great! Has it been released yet? I want one! Just looked ovar at Squadron.com...
Here it is . Wow, does that kit look like a beauty!

It's a new kit. Perth Military Modeling Society has some photos from Chicago on thier site. Don't know when it will be out.
Speaking of new, picked up the new Verlinden 120MM US Special Operations Solider in Afgahnistan from Squadron today. Horse mounted SF unit, should be a fun build. Heard talk they will be releasing other large scale Afgahinstan stuff too...

It is new, but I notice it has the markings of an ancient 1/48 Monogram Razorback. This was the first kit I built all by myself and I actually still have it. I would imagine the Tamiya one would have recessed panel lines and decals that aren't so pixely, though........

This is all nice and everything, but with the excellent Hasegawa P-47s out there, I don't understand why, for the love of snot, Tamiya has released yet another P-47!?!?!? Couldn't they have poured their effort into a more needed kit??? Besides, if this is another $40 kit, I for one will not get it the moment it hits the stores...........

I already have one tamiya P-47D (I got it from frend who lives in Germany)
,detail is outstanding, all parts are detailed,it is the best aircraft I have ever build!I have Revells P-47D,and I can say it is the best P-47D in 1:72.

Reich,

how much was the Tamiya P-47D?
I agree with you on Revell's 1/72 P-47, that little kit is a gem!!! I have built the P-47M and I loved it! Everything fitted perfectly and I hardly used any filler (there were two barely visible sinkholes on the top of the cowling - easy to fix!). As you probably all know, Revell's P-47 is more accurate than Hasegawa's in that scale.... It is the first to have the guns molded in parallel to the ground and not to the wing.....
