I'm sure Neil at HKM is excited at this news, but on the other hand is sure to be the more expensive of the two. Makes sense it's the Dambuster version since old Petey has been working on the movie remake.

Oh my gawd! I'd sell a kidney and break a marriage to get my hands on it. Wait, I already broke the marriage. Do we really need both kidneys? I might need a bigger house to display it though.

If this is the start of WnW branching out from their WW1 subjects, I can't wait to see what comes next. Dear Mr Jackson, for Christmas I would like...

This would likely be the only WWII kit from Wingnut. Since the movie is pretty much dead, this is a way to recoup the investment they made researching the Lancaster cgi for the movie.

Last I heard, the movie was just a "back burner" project but still in the works-- "sometime in the future". This release shows there's still a lot of interest, especially since it's a B MKIII "Chastise" version. I'd read a year or so ago over at Weta Workshop they were creating the Chastise version as a prop for the movie. And had several 1:1 interior and exterior mock ups ready in NZ. This may very well be the CGI model base for the filming. There is quite a following for the Lanc and "the Dambusters" in general in the commonwealth countries, this past year being the 100th anniversary of the RAF and 75th of the Chastise mission. I wouldn't give up hope on PJ yet!

Holy stinkin'...! Better start saving now!

Interestingly, on the WnW site, it shows three new kits in development, 32043, 32044, and 32062. Based on the announcement above, the Dambuster Lanc is 32044. Wonder what the other two are...

Apparently there will be TWO versions of the Lancaster, and one new WWI kit. They will also be much more expensive than HKM's offering, so hopefully that won't impact their sales too much and deprive them of funds for their Spey Phantom and P-51B/C projects.

Is this their 1st non WWI offering, with the quality of their kits,it would be cool if they expanded their line to other types.

The speculation on other sites is that this is simply because they had already done all the CAD work for the plane. It would be very surprising if they left their WWI niche.

I think it is very difficult to understand what they will do to WnW because it is a non-profit company so they can do what they want or what PJ wants, we mere mortals buy the kits he has decided to produce them, the moment they make enough money to repay the production etc. .. of the model their target is reached .... so they have a room of movement that no other company has...and with the quality of their models, I think that in any branch of modeling there is a main stream producer that has reached their level of quality in everything from the model to the decals made by Cartograf in Italy, the instructions are not mere instructions but a mix of instructions and a Osprey volume, also their site is what any modeler would like .... avalanches of information and photos and even the box scream "Quality", even if at high prices they sell ...if you are not interested in their subjects if you can open a box if you can, look at what's inside and you'll be amazed by the quality.

After reading this I took a nap this afternoon and awoke in a sweat from a dream .
In the dream I had to choose between a 1/24 early Ki 43 Hayabusa produced by WnW and a romp with Sofia Vergara - at 65 the sensible choice would be the Hayabusa kit - thank God ( or maybe not ) it was only a dream .

Can anyone recommend a good shrink ?

32062 is between 32061 (DH9 NINAK Post War) and the 32065 (Junkers D1), so that one likely will be a WWI release. 32044 and 32043 are interesting in that they are "in the center of the pack" so to speak, I suspect 32043 will be a straight Lanc-- the question is, will there be other WWII offerings down the road? And since 32045 is still unaccounted for, what is that number reserved for? I suspect this B MKIII will be a big seller, at a similarly large price. I'm betting at least $349 like the larger "dual combo" kits. I hope not but it would make sense.

My goodness. Politics much? I come here to read about models. Can’t you save this for RedState or InfoWars?

It's what is referred to as a joke, in this case based on several of the current memes at the moment. Your response seems to indicate you are not up-to-date on the state of affairs in cultural trends. I would have thought the over-the-top nature of the suggestion would be enough to indicate it was a spoof, but I seem to be growing even more Cavettish as I age and I end up soaring too far overhead in my attempts.

The 32043 has been confirmed as the standard version of the Dambuster variant. Speculation on price is that due to the nature of WNW's quality level and attention to all the other details is that it may be nearer the $500 mark. The HKM is between $300-$400 depending on where you are for the pre-orders, so that is where my money will go.

Although I may be waiting on that now that the B-24J and the Ki-45 Toryu are almost here, as well as one of the many Strabokrans we're being bombarded with. Three kits for the price of one is hard to pass up.

WOW! ...I bet the guys at HK Models are having the most miserable weekend of their lives right now with this announcement! That said, they have 'teased' with the Lanc for years and years now and just like their 1/32 Mossie, they left it just too late to avoid the Tamiya kit appearing from nowhere and stealing the race right at the finish line.

Whilst I am sure the HK Models Lanc will be a very good kit, if you were to buy just one 1/32 Lanc in you modelling life then really, it will be a no-brainer going for the WNW kit where finesse, accuracy and above all else a precision fit of parts will be guaranteed; even if you have to sell some of the stash to raise the extra $150 or so for the WNW offering.

They have not teased and teased for years on the Lancaster. The plane was actually redesigned after feedback from the various communities to make it as accurate as possible which of course caused a delay. The plane is now available for pre-order, whereas the WNW is not. Also, the Tamiya Mosquito happened to be the variant more people were interested in, while HKM produced a less desirable variant. Both sold well enough, and HKM did not suffer for it.

Neil at HKM is a big boy, and he knows you have to expect competition; he is a businessman after all. Tamiya never gives info on their releases until the last moment so everything they release is basically a surprise to everyone, but it has not stopped anyone from making what they want to make. I have both Tamiya and Revell's new Mustangs, as well as Tamiya and Hasegawa's new Zeroes. I have new Panthers by Meng and Takom. Z-M didn't give up on their He 219 because Revell released a cheaper alternative. It's a big world, and there is plenty of room for competition. In fact, competition makes the companies better or causes those who can't step it up to fade (Dragon).

I for one will be getting the HKM release as 1) it will be here much sooner and 2) the extra $150-$250 of the WNW does not guarantee I will feel $150-$250 happier. And if I want a Dambuster there is already someone making a conversion kit for the HKM, so I can get the WNW variant for less than the WNW price.

HKM are fine.

Hey guys, whatever the intention, statements like this clearly have the potential to be interpreted in all sorts of ways. The wise ones amongst us could help the site avoid the whole murky area of jokes based on people's sexuality, political views, or even the fact that they might like raised panel lines.

Love and peace,

Steve.

Shell Bush - Upon reflection, perhaps my use of the word 'teased' was't the most appropriate word to use for the point I was making but I can't recall how many years now I have seen 'test shots' at the IPMS Nats in Telford of the HK Lanc and only now does it come to fruition. Whichever way it is packaged, HK seem to be like the fable 'The Hare & the Tortoise' when it comes to really desirable subjects and (actual) release timings with competitors.

Irrespective, I hope their own kit does well for them because as you say, healthy competition in the marketplace is ultimately good for all of us.

Shell, I strongly suggest that you teach yourself what "Punching Down" means. Making fun of people less socially powerful than you are makes you a bully, not a comedian. There's no room for that kind of nonsense here.

Steve, too some extend I agree with you.

The other extend is that we shouldn't give room to remarks or opinions that devalue people, so I am more inclined to follow the lead of Gannet and request that these kind of nonsense are kept for sites specialising in them. After all we have garbage collection as well, don't we?
