Damn fine paint work there Spud! Mals masks are just the shiz right?

Cheers Chris, I'm definitely walking a fine line between speed (by my standard) and quality (again, by my standard). Mals masks are great, and the Pattern A masks saved a ton of masking time. Whenever I go back to decals, I can't help wishing I had masked it.

cheers.

OK...., managed to get the white paint down on the leading edges and the tail feathers. Then I managed to snap off the propeller shaft. Just pick up some telescoping rod to try and replace the prop-shaft. Then I noticed that I forgot to sand down a gate on the leading edge. Maybe a little white painting session tonight.

Completely agree with you on that though so far I have only used masks for the simpler roundels and crosses. Yet to try a stars and bars type insignia.

I've found a nickname for my 1/72 CA-12 boomerang: "My little nightmare"

He is now close from paint booth.

I am at the painting stage of my first boomerang, but it's been to damn humid here to do any spraying the last few days.

It's a CA-12 from special hobby in 1/72.

A lot of thing don't go:
- in the cockpit, the rudders are too big,
- i needed to cut the frame to insert the cockpit tube in the fuselage,
- the plastic is too hard or to fragile,
- no way to have the engine properly aligned.
- need a lot of puttying before the paint

Unfortunately I have to retire from the campaign, in recent months I bought a house, we finally moved but months will pass before I can get back to production on the modeling side ..... shame because I really cared about the ANZAC campaign

Sorry!...

Don't worry Vicious (or Sid as I like to call him) there will no doubt be an ANZAC 2 as this campaign is proving popular, sometime in the future. Please keep tabs on the goings on around here as all are welcome building or not.

Damn fine work Colin! I'm not particularly good with figures so I tend to avoid them where possible. My guys always look badly startled LOL.

Great looking Boomerang Iain! The chipping is way more restrained than my effort! Looking forward to seeing her complete.

Thanks Chris, the chipping is a little overdone on the left wing for my liking. First time trying to use chipping medium and I think I got it a little thick and was a tad aggressive scrubbing it.

The Boomerang looks grand Iain. Can't wait to see it finished.

Going to have to change my submission and aim to complete just a single figure. Not sure I will be able to finish them all and the diorama in time. I will however be continuing and post photos when it is done.

Hi Stephen sorry to hear that but a figure in a group or by itself is just fine. And yes please do post pics of your diorama when complete I'd love to see it.

I'd say it was fine Iain, follow this link to see what my over the top chipping looks like.

Colin, also meant to congratulate you on your build. The figures are fantastic and I love the ground work and jungle vegetation. Will have to check back through the pages to see how you did it.

Chris, cool I'll carry on with the solo figure. I have quite a few small figure bases to display it on. One of the things which has slowed down my progress is finding a suitably suzed base or case for the trench to fit in. Might have to build something myself for it.

Finished rigging Snipe:

Did that the easy way: drill holes to wings, pull "wire" (Ez-line) through, and secure with small drop of CA. This needed some sanding to flatten the surface, so have to touch up of few spots with paint.

Also wheels and propeller are missing, but otherwise ready once weathered.

Looks great Pasi! I'm still struggling with rigging but getting better. How much will you weather it?

Thanks Chris. I'll try to keep it quite light. Some sprayed mud and oil should be sufficient.

Hi Stephen,
thanks for the comments, unfortunately i only jumoed in on this build in the last minute so there werent any builds of the jungle.

basically, the base is a block of Jarrah from a mate over here that had a rough section on it. Over this section i poured some clear resin mixed with a couple of drops of light brown to produce murky water for the river. The grass is just commercial glued into holes then the spaces filled with more grass. Plants are mainly commercial laser cut, with some fish tank plastics thrown in.
The bamboo is leaves from a local tree (cant remember the name of it), looks just like scale bamboo trunks though. The small vines etc are grass roots and some artificial hair. then it was all spray painted varying shades of green

And I call my build done. Two of the pictures are in campaign gallery.

Higher resolution and all in-progress photos are also available.

Thanks for the campaign. Had fun with the kit and following others' builds.
