Glen Coleman has just sent us the first photos of Kitty Hawk's highly detailed new largescale Airacobra. Note, this is the first test-shot, so some details may change.

It looks really great, even with the sink marks on the prop blades. With all that interior detail it would almost seem a shame to close the kit up. Another kit to add to the dream list.

I'm not a massive fan of the Airacobra but that does look very nice.

Kitty Hawk is really cranking out the 1/32 scale kits. 1st the F-86D and now the P39 Q/N. Add in the Tamiya Mosquito, and it going to be a very expensive year for you 1/32 scale builders.

A staple pf early war Allied aviation. I hope it's a step up from the Special Hobby kits.

What I need to know is the differences between the Q/N and the D, so I know if I can ditch the "D" version that I am currently building? That build is waiting to see if I can turn this Kitty Hawk kit into a "D" or not!

Mal, it looks like it's mainly armament that's different although there are also engine, armour and prop changes. The D-1 had 20mm cannon while the D-2 had 37mm through the engine, the N & Q both had the 37mm.

Check out this on Wiki it should help.

As for the kit, Italian markings for the Q I'm in.

Pretty much need a new wing then, but I'll see about altering the wings on this, but that won't make it a simple project so I might just stay with the D that I have and sort out its problems!
