Hi there

I must admit I'm very tempted to look in my LHS while I'm out today - I might just try to squeeze this little devil in alongside my Bf 110 while I wait to start the big F-80.

All the best

Looks very nice looking at the pictures you have posted Rowan and what a great price as well. Hmmm very tempting! I think I will hang on to read the review.

Hi again

My wallet survives intact another day... the Emil's on order at the LHS but none are available on the Isle of Wight yet. Apparently, the shop has received a number of enquiries about the kit, so it looks like Airfix should do very well with this one if they've made a good job of it.

All the best

..well mine didn't ..hasn't.. cleared the shelves of my LHS, difficult not to at the price ..and a few other of the new 109s by way of comparison ! Most expensive was the Eduard Profipack at £37, the Zvesda 109 F was £14, same price as the Airfix Emil, while the Trumpeter 32nd Emil was £29...my excuse, I'm not having a summer holiday this year..

Hi Neil

Great haul! I think that explains why there are still no Airfix Emils on the Island - they all got intercepted by "bandits" on the way!

There is a build of the kit on the Hyperscale forum, it seems very nice and the fit seems very good, also at the wing roots!

The Airfix "E" fuselage profile's relevant areas seem to match exactly in outline, as they should, the Zvezda "F" kit from the Airfix sprue photos I have seen. This is comparing with the Zvezda kit in hand at matching view angles...

If the Airfix canopy base width is the correct 13 mm and the canopy top width also correct at 7.5 mm, then the most of the major outlines should be OK: The deep panel lines turned out to be an effect of the lighting in some of the sprue photos...

well I trawled through about ten pages on hyperscale before giving up - didn't find anything.

I'm just finishing off a Tamiya Emil before attacking mine - the parts break-down of the Airfix kit, even the look of some of the detail parts, is very similar to that of the Japanese kit - Airfix though put everything in the box, including a choice of racks, ordnance, canopies, spinners, a much better looking engine and even bulged tyres, so in this market at least, the kit has to be a winner...

Hi Neil

I'll have another look in my LHS today, but I don't hold out much hope of the kit being there - the IOW is tradionally rather slow in getting stuff.

Assuming I can't get hold of the Emil, do you fancy doing us an in-box Review? It'd be nice to cover the kit while it's still "hot".

Hi Neil

That'd be great. You surely haven't started all 3 of the kits, have you?!

There's still no sign of the Emil here, and next week's already looking busy, so I won't get a chance to look at the kit if it does arrive at the LHS.

All the best

I just looked in my local Modelzone, and they have loads at £13.99 so I snapped up a couple. Had a quick look in the box, absolutely loving the colour paint guide, excellent stencil placement guide. The only thing that was slightly disappointing is the lack of swastikas on the decal sheet, so I have to go aftermarket for these.
