I normally build 1/35 scale armor, but have always had an interest in WWII US Navy Aircraft. For in between armor projects, I'm looking to purchase the following aircraft in 1/72 scale: Corsair, Hellcat, Avenger and Helldiver.

Can I please have recommendations from members on which kits I should go for? I'm looking for best value for building straight OOB. Also, I'd prefer the later war variants of the aircraft ie F6F-5 Hellcat

Looking forward to some positive info

Corsair is the only one I've built, Tamiya. They do early and late war variants.

Good luck

I'm a little late on this one, but I'd go with:

-Tamiya for the Corsair,

-Academy or Revell for the Hellcat,

-Hasegawa for the Avenger,

-Academy for the Helldiver.

Hope this helps,
Tom

If you don't mind waiting, Eduard has announced a few F6Fs in 1/72 for later this year/early next.

The Academy Helldiver comes in two versions, both based on the Accurate Miniatures kit in 1/48. One set is standard, the other comes with an Eduard photo etch set. Academy makes the Hellcat in 1/72 as well, and it's not a bad kit. Inexpensive as well. Just an option depending upon availability of the other kits.
