Hi Dave,

I have used my own mix of Tamiya paints (blue and red in which I have added some black). I hope that the roundel colors of the model don't look too bad...

Jean-Luc

Jean-Luc, they look great! Just asking, as I have ordered some masks from Mal

I could swear I'd already posted on this thread, but D@MN, that looks fine, Jean Luc!

Cheers!

Yeah the Tamiya Spitfire!

Going to do 485 Squadron (RNZAF). Johnnie Houlton's bird. He was credited with the first kill on D-Day, shooting down a Junkers 88. His aircraft still survives to-date, and is flying with Carlyn Grace.

Hi Jean-Luc,
I'm not sure now whether to thank you or not, I have been inundated with requests for 1/32 Spitfire markings since you posted these pics, and I'm struggling to keep up
David, yours will be done this week end Rowan you had better get your finger out if you want yours

Salut Jean-Luc!

Wow just great work you did on this build. Especially the weathering is nice with the different toned color chips!

David, I'm looking forward to see your Spitfire. I'm sure you will love the Tamiya kit.

Hi again

Well, our sample Spit just arrived from HLJ, so I can now safely admit that I'm going to be building this beauty for Aeroscale! I can hardly wait!

Mal! Mal! Where's Mal when you need him!

All the best

Hi Nick

Yep - that's the way Tamiya always do it. They print the outlines and you have to cut them out yourself.

All the best

Hi all,

Thank you vey much for your kind words. I'm sorry if the Spitfire pictures made you want to buy a kit for Christmas, but you sure won't regret it if you do...

Quoted Text

It's such a shame you couldn't share this with us as you were building it - it would have been the "scoop of all scoops"! You must have been itching to let the cat out of the bag!

Yes, that was indeed the case all the time... oh well...

I must also say a special thank you to Mal for cutting the masks so fast. Without him the result wouldn't have been the same. The masks really help to preserve all that fine detail work made by Tamiya. In 1:32 scale it really makes sense to use them in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing your amazing build,

can you please provide more information on the masks you used? How do I contact "Mal's Magic Masks"?

Best regards

Hi Peter

Welcome to Aeroscale. It's great to have you with us.

You can contact [Mal (Holdfast) with a PM. I'll be featuring a set of his masks for a different scheme on my own Spit.

All the best

Hi Rowan,

It is certainly not you, otherwise he would have wrote "You really should finish one model".

Sorry, I couldn't resist...
