Kit Contents
The kit I am building is the AMT/ERTL 1/48 F/A-18A Hornet. Opening the box for the first time revealed several surprises. Standing out among them was the plastic used for this kit. The plastic is almost white in color and when held up to a light appears semi-transparent. It didn't have very good paint adhesion properties either and this made painting more difficult. The instructions were mediocre. They provided details for the entire construction but the drawings detailing part placement were vague. Several of the drawings were missing painting information. Decals were provided for several different aircraft but the decals were not without problems themselves-more on that later. One plus of the contents was that two canopies were provided in case you mess one up but missing from the clear parts sprue were the Heads Up Display (HUD) and the light for the nose landing gear.
