It is based on an actual truck.It's a Western Star conventional cab.
I couldn't tell you anything about the engine, gearbox or chassis origins, but the cab and bonnet are Western Star.

Ryally buggalugs Thanks for the nice comments Damian and Steve. To answer your question Steve - yes I have sorted the colours, sort of. I'm pretty happy with the underwing French grey, less so with the khaki. The latter was spot-on the money when applied over grey primer on the rudder, but went a much darker gree... KrisMax Torsten, those P-61's are looking great. Looks like you're on the home straight now. By comparison, I'm a few weeks behind you, with more filling/sanding and canopy masking ahead of me. It's been good to have your posts to keep me focussed on the task. Thanks!
